Rennes 2 is happy to host a prominent figure in water sciences and governance. In addition to collaborating with the ESO research center, Professor Niang Fall is also working with professors of the Rennes 2 Department of Geography and Spatial Planning. Please find her biography below.
Since 2008, Professor Niang Fall has been an integral part of the doctoral school “Water, Quality, and Water Uses” (EDEQUE), where she initially managed scientific communication and secretarial duties. In 2018, she took on the leadership of doctoral programs focused on continental hydrology, IWRM, and coastal governance. More recently, in July 2023, she was elected Director of EDEQUE for a three-year term, marking a new chapter in her impactful academic career.
Her expertise extends across international projects. Since 2010, Professor Niang Fall has been deeply involved in the ACEWATER Project, fostering networks of African centers of excellence in water sciences and technologies. She currently coordinates the West African Network of Water Centers of Excellence (WANWATCE) under Phase 3 (2024–2027) of ACEWATER, a European Commission-funded initiative that addresses human capacity building, institutional collaboration, and the WEFE nexus (water-energy-food-ecosystems).
Since 2022, she has also represented Cheikh Anta Diop University in the GoNEXUS Project, a European Union-funded program focusing on integrated water management across six river basins in Europe and Africa, including the Senegal and Zambezi basins.
